![]() mages and warlocks can wield daggers and one-handed swords but monks cannot wield daggers and priests cannot wield one-handed swords. moreover, the gnome race had the racial ability "shortblade specialization", which increased expertise with daggers and one-handed swords, and was added in cataclysm. as you cannot play a scientist or a tinker at the moment (engineering doesn't count, and neither does a gnome warrior/hunter) the only option i see is the arcanist - which is basically an arcane mage. Many of the Alliance's best arcanists, scientists and tinkers have been gnomes". furthermore, it is said that "The Expansive Mind of the gnome race is readily apparent to the casual observer. Their carefulness and precision with magic has given them a slight Arcane Resistance." warlocks (priests or monks, for that matter) do not use the arcane. lore supports this as well, as written in wowpedia: "Gnomes take the same approach to the arcane sciences as they do to other technologies. as their mastery "mana adept" increased damage based on the mana the mage has unspent and later on, the mastery "savant" increased maximum mana (just like the gnome racial). increased mana benefits the arcane mage the most. then, in cata, the racial increased mana pool and in warlords increased maximum mana (alongside other resources). so that leaves us with the mage and warlock classes (priest was added in cataclysm, monk was added in mists of pandaria, and the hunter, which was added in legion, stopped using mana back in cataclysm). The "expansive mind" racial originaly increased intellect. moreover, their racial "stoneform" (sometimes refered to as Avatar) resembles the mountain king's "avatar" ability, as they both transform you into stone (in HotS and Warcraft 3 at least). as the mountain king dual-wields a mace and an axe (i know the warrior class cannot wield guns anymore and the mountain king does not utilize guns, but it could still benefit from the racial back in the day). so, which spec exactly fits the dwarven warrior? the fury warrior does. while hunters, rogues and warriors could all wield guns back in the day, hunters could not (and still cannot) wield any kind of maces and rogues could not (and still cannot) wield two-handed maces. Recommended stats: Versatility > Mastery.ĭwarves had the racial abilities "gun specialization" and "mace specialization" which increased guns, one handed maces and two handed maces weapon skills, respectively (and then crit and lastly expertise before their removal). that leaves us with holy paladin for humans. priests can wield one handed-maces but cannot wield two-handed maces or any kind of a sword (and monks cannot wield two handed maces or swords). then, the racial abilities "sword specialization" and "mace specialization" increased weapon skill for one-handed and two-handed swords and maces, respectively (critical strike afterwards and eventually expertise before they were removed). that leaves us with holy paladin and discipline/holy priest options for humans (and mistweaver monk, though it was added in mop). The "human spirit" racial ability originaly granted spirit, which was beneficial for healers. In this thread i'm gonna disscuss my speculation as to the ideal race/class combinations based primarily on racial abilities and some lore. ![]()
